Hormone Replacement Therapy

HORMONE BALANCING

A critical system within the human body is the endocrine system. It utilizes chemical compounds called hormones that are produced and regulated by the body to communicate messages to different organs. The endocrine system is critical in regulating a person's mood, growth, and development, sexual desires and reproduction. During the different stages of human development, the activity of the system changes and specific glands that produce hormones can increase or decrease over the years.

Hormone Replacement Therapy has been a growing area of interest in the medical field, specifically in relationship to anti-aging research and treatment. People are looking to maintain a level of vitality, energy and sexual activity much longer than traditionally expected. Simultaneously, people have become increasingly impacted by high levels of stress, lack of sleep and longer work hours that negatively impact the body’s function. These circumstances can result in early onset menopause, andropause and other conditions that can result in moodiness, chronic fatigue and lower than desired sexual interest and performance.

The endocrine system is one in which the levels of specific hormones, when maintained over a daily, weekly, monthly, or yearly basis, can maintain a desired level of functionality and a decrease or absence of undesirable conditions.

THE NEW DAY WAY: A PERSONALIZED APPROACH TO HORMONE THERAPY

Under the guidance of Dr. Kristin Black, MD, the New Day Wellness staff has extensive experience working with patients to treat many symptoms and conditions related to low or imbalanced hormones. These include but are not limited to: low sex drive, irritability, poor memory, hot flashes, weight gain and the drying/aging of skin and hair. Hundreds of our patients have found great success in using hormone replacement and restoration to treat these problems.

The preferred methodology used at New Day Wellness for Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT) is pellet implant therapy. A pellet is about the size of a grain of rice which are comprised of hormones that are biologically identical to the hormones produced by the human body and are created and extracted from plants, such as soybeans and yams. New Day Wellness Center is part of the Sottopelle(R)  Certified provider network, a leading organization of trained BHRT providers created by Dr. Gino Tutera, MD who introducted BHRT pellets to the United States over 20 years ago.

When properly administered, the pellet delivery system provides safe and effective BHRT. In fact, it remains the only form of delivery that closely mirrors what the human ovary and testicle do. This method ensures the same steady, around-the-clock, low dosages the body once created. You won’t have to change patches, rub on creams, or remember to take a pill. And you won’t experience the radical surges and drops in blood levels as with other methods. Pellet implants even deliver more when the body needs it—like during exercise or periods of stress.

We begin the process by examining a patient's current blood levels for key hormone levels. New patients seeking a BHRT consult should contact our office to arrange for a lab order so that the results can be reviewed at their consultation appointment. In collaboration with the patient, we establish a program that can achieve a target hormone level and physiological and emotional outcome that meets the needs and goals of the specific patient.

The program can include the addition of hormones that the body is no longer producing, performed through the insertion of specially compounded pellets or the application of specially formulated gels or creams. Other programs seek to improve the effectiveness/stimulate the body to elevate its production of key hormones through the use of supplements, in turn resulting in improvements to a patient's wellbeing.
